ie7 wtf

the microsoft IE7 team continues to make bizarre changes to the UI. now the menu bar is hidden by default!? and a new icontastic "command bar" has been added to replace it, on the right hand side of the window. way to go. i look at the screenshots and feel completely lost, as a user. of course you can bring the menu bar back (not sure how easy it is to find the option), but it's still stuck under the address bar.

i have not yet installed the ie7 beta… i suppose i should at some point, for testing purposes, although i don't want to replace ie6, and i've heard reports of systems becoming unstable or messed up when installing an unofficial standalone version of ie7 beta (i currently use standalone versions of older versions of IE without trouble, though). i should look at that more closely. i wonder if it'd work better if ie7 was installed as the default system ie and ie6 was run as the standalone. hmmm.

Just wait until you try it out. I've pretty much made a whole new set of bookmarks just for IE7 issues, including:

    css-dicuss' IE7 page: http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=IE7
    Bug Reports for IE7
    CSS Compatibility in IE7

(do I only get to post two links? the third kept dropping out…)

all 3 links are there now. i think i've got the spam filters set to do something if there are "too many" links. i should adjust that, since akismet is doing such a good job of trapping spam now.

    thanks for the info!

It's reasons like this why I dislike IE. Convoluted changes that make no sense aren't my thing. I just use Firefox. I find it much more convenient. But that's just me…

Since you're not using the url "http://www.bunnyflash.blogspot.com" anymore, would you mind deleting your old blog and leaving the url available for me?

    Thank you very much!

Use Firefox it works WAY better and no active-x controls so way less spyware and auto pop-up blocker and it is free.

it's bad news! I was encouraged to install it as I was having probs with the IE6. probs are worse than before & I don't know how to return to IE6. many of my installed programs & some flash on websites (hotbar for one) don't work with IE7. if anyone knows how to get back to IE6, without wiping & reinstalling, please email me koolgranniexo@yahoo.com

    THX for listening…

Looks like they're trying to make it look more like Longhorn. Regardless, IE7 is probably going to turn out like a Firebird or phoenix since MS is always years behind the Open-source scene. I can't see any Firefox fans switching over to IE7.

since installing ie7 i get constant and annoying security popups warning me that i have active x turned off and this page may not load properly , sometimes 4 and 5 popups per page … when these popups appear the page will not continue loading untill you click them off ….. i know i have active x turned off , i dont need to be constantly reminde of it and there is now way to turn off notification ….which makes ie7 for me just about completely unuseable
